Pride Liverpool: „Let’s keep fighting for equality in the game“

The LFC Foundation invited The Ball to the Anfield Sports & Community Centre for their Pride tournament. „We have 20 teams from across different parts of the city with 140 players. LFC and the LFC Foundation have always supported PRIDE and LGBT communities. Today we are going to donate some rainbow laces to SOF to support the event. Jürgen Klopp has always been a massive ally of LGBT communities and wears these rainbow laces on match days“, said Katie Ellis Carrigg, Head of Sport and Inclusion at the LFC Foundation

Colin Dowling wanted to sign The Ball and have a quick chat, despite the cold and rainy morning weather. He stopped playing football for 9 years as a result of the abuse he heard others faced because of their sexuality. He is now playing as striker for three different teams, including The Rainbow Toffees, an LGBTQ+ inclusive team.

„Let’s keep fighting for equality in the game,“ he said. That is exactly what The Ball is trying to do all the way from London to the 2023 World Cup in New Zealand and Australia.
