Father Ray’s Children’s Village

The Ball was invited by Mr Jo Jo to come and visit the Father Ray Children’s Village on the outskirts of Pattaya – Thailand’s prostitution capital. Father Ray’s Children’s Village offers a safe place for children from Pattaya and all over Thailand who were previously living on the streets of the city, sleeping in shop doorways. They are away from poverty, abuse and neglect and have found a place where they are safe. No longer are they being forced into crime or to sell their bodies for money to buy food.

The Spirit team had the opportunity to run a 4-hours workshop with 20 girls living in the village, all of whom are mad about football. The highlight was playing FairPlay Football with the girls on the Village’s football court, which is normally dominated by the boys. It was the first time that most of the girls were able to play there and right in front of the boys. At the end of the session, all of the girls signed The Ball and we went off to eat dinner with them.

Thanks to Jojo and Lars and the team for taking care of us and The Ball. One Ball, One World.
