The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung in Vietnam:
Vietnam is one of the most affected countries by climate change. At the same time, Vietnam has become a big emitter of greenhouse gases, too. Bringing the Ball to this country that is crazy for football is a great chance to gain support and awareness for socially just climate action.
Julia Behrens, Project Director for the Climate and Energy Programme in Asia, FES:
I pledge that I continue my private and professional commitment for sustainable development to consider all actions that I take as part of a global community and to consider what consequences my actions have. I pledge to make others join me in this movement.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi To Quyen – District Dean of Faculty of Sociology and Development – Academy of Journalism and Communication:
Vietnam is increasingly heavily affected by climate change impacts. We are honoured to join The Ball as we are committed to the country’s target Net Zero by 2050. We commit to join hands in reducing emission for the safety and development of our Earth.
Phan Thị Thu Hương, Head of Program and Life skills Department at Football for All Vietnam (FFAV), participant in the workshop in Hanoi:
I found the workshop was very useful and I learned many new things, especially with the SDG Ball. In the future I will use the SDG Ball to teach our players about the SDGs.
Cheeri, student at Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC) in Hanoi, Vietnam:
The last 3 days were fantastic. It was the first time I played football. At first I found it difficult to connect football with environmental issues. But the Spirit of Football helped me realise that we can do so many things to protect our planet. My pledge is to try to be more green: using cloth bags and less plastic bags. It may not be easy but we need to do these things to protect the planet. Thanks for giving me the chance to realise how important our earth is.
Dorothy, student at Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC) in Hanoi, Vietnam
“I took part in the workshop because my friend told me to. But after the process we went through together, I really love everybody here. I love this project, I love what it brings to people around the world. The most important thing that I learned is that I should care more about the environment, about people and myself. My pledge is that I will reduce electric use by switching off electric devices when I don’t need them. I hope that everyone can join hands to protect our loving earth.”
Hui, student at Academy of Journalism and Communication (AJC) in Hanoi, Vietnam
“In the last 3 days we had a magnificent experience with the workshop and the practical day today. We played football and acknowledged the problems around the world and came up with our own ideas for action.”
