During Festival23 more than 75 female youth leaders from Football for Good (F4G) organisations from all over the world came together in Sydney around the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Ball was also part of this inspiring F4G festival, and had the chance to meet with colleagues from Generation Amazing. The Generation Amazing Foundation is a movement of youth advocates, coaches, volunteers, ambassadors and participants who care about one goal: using football to empower youth and improve our world.
Founded in 2010, when Qatar successfully bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, GA has been working towards positive social change using the transformative power of football. Spirit of Football and Generation Amazing have been in contact for a long time, since our goals align in using football for positive social change. With recent focus of both organisations going towards Climate Action and Gender Equality, and both being part of Festival23, it was a chance to begin to talk about future collaboration. Indeed it feels like there is much synergy between The Ball and GA’s slogan “Pass It On”. Members of the Generation Amazing delegation at Festival 23 signed The Ball and said:
We are from Generation Amazing and we are passing it on for Gender Equality and Climate Action. Koora Waheda, Alam Wahed (One Ball, One World)!
On the last day of the festival, Executive Director of Generation Amazing Foundation Nasser Al Khori signed The Ball and confirmed that
We are here today to pass it on for gender equity and climate action. At Generation Amazing Foundation we believe strongly in, and we put a lot of emphasis on, gender equality across all programmes that we deliver. We are very happy to support Festival 23 and a lot of the partners here in Sydney during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. We are very happy to support Spirit of Football and the journey of The Ball.
