On the way to the airport on June 29th, we took a picture at the highest point on South Tawara, Kiribati. Posing here serves the purpose of an interesting picture, but at the same time shows how existentially Kiribati is threatened by climate change and rising sea levels.
After we handed in our luggage, and got an official document for our seashell jewellery for entering New Zealand (yes that’s a thing), we met one last time with Martin Torfinga the President of the Kiribati Islands Football Federation (KIFF) and others who had supported The Ball in Kiribati.
Having The Ball with us in the last week has been a very great success. I will do the 10,000th Signing of The Ball. These training workshops on gender equality, sustainability and climate action. We, from the KIFF together with all our football players, especially women, will continue what we have been exchanging, experiencing, to continue gender equality support and climate action, what has been conveyed by the workshops that have been held by Spirit of Football.
Thank you to Martin and his team, and everyone that supported The Ball in Kiribati. Thank you, ko raba, and hopefully see you again soon!
