Fairplay with Lion City Sailors Girls Team – May 4th:
We originally wanted to run a session with the defending Singapore national champion Lion City Sailors Women’s Team. However, it didn’t turn out like that. Many of the LCS players play for the Singapore National team, and they were away during The Ball’s visit representing Singapore at the South East Asia (SEA) games in Cambodia, and so not many first team players were available. In the end, thanks to former Singapore National Team Player, current LCS Women’s Head Coach and WPL Coach of the Year 2022 Yeong Sheau Shyan, we were able to do a session with the LCS under-14 girls team on May 4th. The up and coming youngsters took part in a session that was extended by at least an hour due to a thunderstorm. After a FairPlay kick about they all signed The Ball. Afterwards, we spoke to one young lady of the LCS who is running a project that is fighting for gender equality in schools in Singapore. Her name is Miray and she pledged to fight for equal pay for equal play for women in football in Singapore.
