Pat Nevin signs the ball on air
Chelsea fan Phil meets ex-Chelsea captain and Scotland international Pat Nevin during an appearance on Radio 5 Live just before the opening ceremony…
After being filmed by the BBC Six O’Clock News team when we arrived with the Ball at the World Cup stadium, we were rushed by the producer to the roof of a 16 storey tower block nearby. There, looking less than comfortable under a canvas canopy, we found the headphone-clad Radio 5 Live crew chatting away.
In contrast to my nervousness during the Six O’Clock News interview, the atmosphere here seemed wonderfully relaxed. As we waited to join the round table discussion, we listened to the presenters banter with one another as they tried to build a picture of the pre-match fervour. And then, with rain drizzling gently around us, we were on…
After the interview, Pat persuaded Phil to play a little keep-up. Like he needed any encouragement…
Anything you can do…
…I can do too.
Cheers Pat, hope you get to see a game.
