Workshop at Green School, Day 1<\/h2>\n

On May 29, we started our first workshop day with a Fairplay Football session with the students from different grades of the green school. We wanted to teach them the Fairplay rules in the morning, so that they could help us run another Fairplay session in the afternoon when the local kids team from Batuan would join. On this day, we played mixed games with children from the Green School and from the Batuan community and with boys and girls.<\/p>\n

Before lunch, we had introduced The Ball’s journey and had a conversation with the children about how football can bring people together. We also talked about climate change affects all of us and how the Green School and its community work towards a more sustainable lifestyle.<\/p>\n

All of us enjoyed the mixed Fairplay football session, which brought The Green School students in touch with the local children and fostered the intercultural communication between them. Many of the students, like Art, said that “even though we don’t speak the same language, we can understand each other through football.”
\nBecause everyone had a great time, we decided to have another Fairplay session on the second workshop day.<\/p>\n

Workshop at Green School, Day 2<\/h2>\n

On the second workshop day, we started with some activities around the SDGs and Simon, Bodhan and Lukas prepared their presentation on the workshop which they held on the next Friday School Assembly. Bodhan talked about The Ball\u2019s motto \u201cOne Ball, One World\u201d and about the Fairplay football with the Balinese team he is also working with for his quest project.<\/p>\n

Simon talked about how he was able to connect to the Balinese kids through football and what he learned on SDGs and how pledges makes us aware of our (sustainable) lifestyle. Lukas talked about how great he felt to play football with the local children and said:<\/p>\n

The Green School students all committed to more climate action and gender equality. For example, Hype pledged to “plant more trees”, Mila pledged to be “more fair in all the games” and Rodrigo pledged “to not eat any kind of meat so my carbon footprint can lower down.” Georgie and Aniki pledged “to make a difference in women’s football”. Other pledges included to not use single use plastics and to to compost food waste.<\/p>\n
