In honour of 1998 ‘Likes’ on this page, a little …

In honour of 1998 ‘Likes’ on this page, a little history for you… Phil Wake and Christian Wach, the founders of Spirit of Football, went to the World Cup in France in 1998. It was their first World Cup of a possible unbroken line for as long as their bones will carry them to this great competition. There they experienced the unforgettable joy as the fans of different cultures came together in various French cities to watch their teams compete for the greatest trophy on earth. Phil with his passion for music and recording captured some of this excitement with his ever present microphone and when they returned home Christian suggested they edit a radio piece together.
They made that radio edit and so began what was to become the Spirit of Football, a journey from the home of football to every World Cup. The journey is a celebration of this beautiful game and the human spirit that allowed football to become the most popular game on the planet.

As the ‘Likes’ go up we’ll keep posting the history and the future… well at least to Qatar in 2022!

Keep playing.

It doesn’t matter if you are black, white, …

It doesn’t matter if you are black, white, green, orange or red.
It doesn’t matter if you are old or young. A boy or a girl
It doesn’t matter if you are good at football or not, if you are disabled or not
I (The Ball) am for everyone.
Remember, there is only one of me and there is only one earth.
Football is the beautiful game and we live in a very beautiful world.
You need to take care of me and yourself and our world too
One Ball One World

Spirit of Football e.V.
